The science and technology of Adhesion is one of the most important subjects in the world of structural and functional systems with varied applications. The numerous methods of bonding and the wide spectrum of adhesives, adhesion promoters industrially used speaks volume of the importance of this subject. Despite the large-scale use of various adhesives, and technologies of bonding materials, the scientific exploration of adhesion has not been holistically undertaken in our country. In fact, there is no organized forum, structured interaction, scientific programme for advancement in adhesion science and technology, nor any collective effort for innovative solutions for many unanswered questions related to adhesion in very critical areas of applications.
A group of scientists took the initiative and a Society is formed and registered recently as “Adhesion Society of India” (ASI) under the Societies Registration Act 1860, Govt. of India (Registration No. Pune/0002341/2025).

The Society will concentrate on education, research and training with a focus on science and technology in India. Activities will include developing research projects, creating training modules, organizing workshops, and providing solutions tailored to advancements in adhesion science.
The Society aims to nurture and foster international research collaborations between Indian scientists and global organizations and universities. This will involve setting up partnerships, joint research projects, exchange programs, and collaborative grants to enhance the global presence and impact of Indian research in adhesion science.
Recognizing and honouring individuals who have made significant contributions to adhesion science and technology both in India and internationally.
Initiating scholarships and awards to support students, researchers, and professionals in adhesion science. This includes creating scholarship programs, research grants, and award recognition to encourage and support upcoming talented individuals and established experts.
Publishing a high-quality, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to adhesion science and technology. This journal will help with the dissemination of research findings, reviews, case studies, and innovations, encouraging contributions from global researchers.
Starting the Mittal Fellow program to recognize outstanding researchers and professionals in the adhesion field. Selected Mittal Fellows will be provided with resources and platforms to further their research and impact.
Actively participating as a co-sponsor of meetings, conferences, and symposia worldwide in the field of adhesion. This includes providing financial support, organizational help, and promotional efforts to enhance global collaboration.
Offering specialized courses in adhesion science and technology. Society will develop and run educational courses, certifications, workshops, and training sessions to advance knowledge and skills in adhesion science.
Collaborating with industries to bridge the gap between research and practical application. This will involves partnering with industry leaders, conducting joint research projects, providing consultancy services, and facilitating technology transfer.
Helping students attend relevant meetings, conferences, seminars, and workshops by providing travel grants, accommodation support, and registration fee waivers.
Arranging seminars, workshops, training programs, symposia, lectures, debates, panel discussions, and conferences on current research topics in adhesion science and technology. These events will foster discussion, knowledge sharing, and networking among industry professionals, researchers, and students.
Offering technical guidance to individuals or agencies to promote Society’s objectives. This includes offering consultancy services, expert advice, and technical support to organizations and individuals working in adhesion science.
Developing databases, maps, web pages, and other online instruments that promote the objectives of Society. This includes creating and maintaining digital resources that provide valuable information and tools for researchers, students, and industry professionals.
Running and organizing courses for technical and formal education in adhesion science and technology. Society will establish educational programs that provide formal qualifications, technical knowhow, and hands-on experience in adhesion science.
